Faulkes Telescope Images

Deep Sky Objects - NGC 1232

Here are some images which were captured using the Faulkes Telescope North at the Going Nova Science Festival
which was held at Horizon Scotland at the Business Park in Forres in the north of Scotland.

The event ran from Thursday 10th November 2005 until Saturday 12th November.
During the Festival, the telescope was under the control of members of  the north of Scotland's two mainland astronomy clubs.
SIGMA, Moray's Astronomy Club and  Highlands Astronomical Society.

Alan has done a really good job with this particularly "noisy" image when compared to the raw jpeg below.

This image is here for comparison. It was not taken at Going Nova but at a training session at the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh. Processing the RGB images in a different way has brought out more structure in the spiral arms at the expense of detail in the core of the galaxy.

In this image, Alan has used the RGB layers from the Going Nova exposures, but he has added a luminance layer produced from the red layer captured at the ROE session in October.
